Near-infrared Coronagraphic Imaging of the Circumstellar Disk around Tw Hydrae

چکیده
We present ground-based near-infrared (H-band) imaging of the circumstellar disk around the nearby classical T Tauri star TW Hydrae. The scattered light image shows a face-on disk with radius 4 arcseconds (corresponding to 225 AU) and a morphology which agrees with recent images from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Very Large Array. The best fit power-law for the disk’s radial surface brightness profile obeys the law r. We use our image and published continuum flux densities to derive properties of the disk with a simple model of emission from an optically thick, flat disk. The best-fit values for disk mass and inner radius are 0.03 M⊙ and 0.3 AU; best-fit values for temperature, density, and grain opacity power law exponents (q, p, and β) are 0.7, 1.3, and 0.9, respectively. These properties are similar to those of disks around classical T Tauri stars located in more distant molecular clouds. Because of TW Hydrae’s nearby location and pole-on orientation, it is a uniquely favorable object for future studies of radial disk structure at the classical T Tauri stage. Imaging the Disk around Tw Hydrae with the Submillimeter Array
We present ∼2 –4 aperture synthesis observations of the circumstellar disk surrounding the nearby young star TW Hya in the CO and lines and associated dust continuum obtained with the partially J p 2–1 J p 3–2 completed Submillimeter Array. The extent and peak flux of the 230 and 345 GHz dust emission follow closely the predictions of the irradiated accretion disk model of Calvet et al. The res...

We present the mid-infrared spectrum, obtained with the Spitzer Infrared Spectrograph (IRS), of HD 98800, a quadruple star system located in the 10-Myr-old TW Hydrae association. It has a known mid-infrared excess that arises from a circumbinary disk around the B components of the system. The IRS spectrum confirms that the disk around HD 98800 B displays no excess emission below about 5.5 μm, i...
متن کاملAn Inner Hole in the Disk around Tw Hydrae Resolved in 7 Millimeter Dust Emission
We present Very Large Array observations at 7 millimeters wavelength that resolve the dust emission structure in the disk around the young star TW Hydrae at the scale of the ∼4 AU ( 0. 16) radius inner hole inferred from spectral energy distribution modeling. These high resolution data confirm directly the presence of an inner hole in the dust disk and reveal a high brightness ring that we asso...
متن کاملThe State of Protoplanetary Material 10 Million Years after Stellar Formation: Circumstellar Disks in the Tw Hydrae Association
We have used the Spitzer Space Telescope Infrared Spectrograph to observe seven members of the TW Hya association, the nearest stellar association whose age ( 10 Myr) is similar to the timescales thought to apply to planet formation and disk dissipation. Only two of the seven targets display infrared excess emission, indicating that substantial amounts of dust still exist closer to the stars th...
